Before you install anything, check these basics.

A few minutes of preparation can prevent setup problems. These general instructions apply only when your provider confirms the device and its official app are supported.

Confirm the service and device

Check that the provider is authorized to distribute the content in your location.
Ask the provider to confirm your exact device model, operating-system version and supported app.
Use the provider’s official setup instructions; app availability differs by country and device model.

Prepare your account and network

Make sure your subscription or account is active, if the service requires one.
Keep the official welcome message handy, but do not post passwords, activation codes or account details publicly.
Connect the device to your home network and install available system updates.

Choose a trusted installation source

Install an app only from the device maker’s official app store or a download source explicitly named by the authorized provider.
Do not turn off device protections or install an unknown package to make a service work.
If the official app is not available for your model, contact the provider before proceeding.

Can I use any player app?

Use only an app the authorized provider confirms it supports. A player app does not provide content rights by itself.
